It's been FREEZING around here the past couple of days. According to Accuweather's site at this very moment it is 14 degrees, but feels like -10! We are also expected to get another 5 inches of snow...on top of the 6+ inches we already have.
It feels like winter already!

... WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FROM WEDNESDAY EVENING THROUGH THURSDAY MORNING...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN JACKSON HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM WATCH... WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM WEDNESDAY EVENING THROUGH THURSDAY MORNING.

* PRECIPITATION WILL BEGIN AS LIGHT SNOW LATE WEDNESDAY... BUT WILL TRANSITION TO A MIXTURE OF SNOW... SLEET... FREEZING RAIN... AND RAIN WEDNESDAY NIGHT INTO THURSDAY FROM SOUTHWEST TO NORTHEAST.

* MOST LOCATIONS HAVE THE POTENTIAL FOR AT LEAST MINOR ICING FROM THIS EVENT. THE BEST POTENTIAL FOR SIGNIFICANT ICING... WITH BETWEEN A QUARTER AND A HALF INCH POSSIBLE... WILL BE FOR LOCATIONS SOUTH OF THE MOUNTAIN PARKWAY... AND NORTH OF HIGHWAY 80 AND THE HAL ROGERS PARKWAY. IN ADDITION TO THE FREEZING RAIN... UP TO 4 INCHES OF SNOW WILL BE POSSIBLE FOR LOCATIONS ALONG AND NORTH OF THE MOUNTAIN PARKWAY.

* TRAVEL MAY BECOME DIFFICULT WEDNESDAY NIGHT AND THURSDAY MORNING. ALSO... THERE IS A THREAT FOR POWER OUTAGES IN AREAS THAT EXPERIENCE A PROLONGED PERIOD OF FREEZING RAIN.

* ANY CHANGES IN THE TRACK OF THIS SYSTEM WILL GREATLY AFFECT AMOUNTS OF PRECIPITATION AS WELL AS WHERE SPECIFIC PRECIPITATION TYPES SET UP. PLEASE STAY TUNED FOR FURTHER UPDATES ON THIS POTENTIAL WINTER STORM.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A WINTER STORM WATCH MEANS THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR SIGNIFICANT SNOW... SLEET... OR ICE ACCUMULATIONS THAT MAY IMPACT TRAVEL. CONTINUE TO MONITOR THE LATEST FORECASTS.

More Information

... ANOTHER ROUND OF WINTRY WEATHER EXPECTED WEDNESDAY NIGHT AND THURSDAY...

.AN AREA OF LOW PRESSURE WILL TRACK ALONG THE TENNESSEE VALLEY WEDNESDAY NIGHT THROUGH THURSDAY. COLD AIR WILL BE IN PLACE AT THE SURFACE ACROSS EAST KENTUCKY... WITH WARMING AIR OVERRIDING THE COLD AIR AS THE AREA OF LOW PRESSURE MOVES BY TO THE SOUTH. THIS WILL SET THAT STAGE FOR A WINTRY MIX OF PRECIPITATION ACROSS EAST KENTUCKY FROM WEDNESDAY EVENING INTO THE DAY ON THURSDAY.

More of the same but with sleet and freezing rain on top. So we have a sandwich of (from the bottom) ice, 6 inches of snow with 4 more inches expected and then freezing rain/sleet on top of that.

Santa better have snow chains on that sleigh :-\

Being in a tropical country, many people here wish to see a white Christmas. Well, some of us here who experienced a white Christmas says the scene looks good from the outside looking in. But once you're inside the home and everything out there is white, the view isn't very cozy :)

I look forward to experience that one day :) Meantime, I'm enjoying the "cold" temperature of 22 degrees Celsius. This is a great break from the 35-degree temperatures during summer :)

Yes, I'm glad it warmed up today.  We have a projected high of 72 F.  :)

marvinmacs--my husband grew up in Texas and often dreams of a white Christmas.  He gets one whenever we visit my parents in Iowa for Christmas, but I told him it's overrated.

It's 37ºF here! Brrr.

I grew up with white Christmases most years (northern US), but have seen very few since moving south. I do miss white Christmases!

It's 'warmed up here too' it is 28 F today!  Better than the sub zero earlier this week.   I like having a white Christmas but I would like it to go away as soon after.  I would love to live south and just come home for a week during Christmas, that would be FANTASTIC!
